The charming and vibrant center of Ayamonte is a place to relax and enjoy; getting lost among its pedestrian streets and squares is a delight. If you wander through these squares, you won't miss a thing.
LAGUNA SQUARE
It's the heart of Ayamonte and the square that houses the Town Hall. Inspired by Seville, it's surrounded by palm trees and tiled benches (the mosaics on the back of the benches are all different and depict typical Andalusian scenes). The square is lined with terraces where you can enjoy a drink and soak up the atmosphere. It's also ideal for families with children, who can play freely without the danger of passing cars.
RIVERSIDE WALK
This promenade, with the same architectural style as Plaza de La Laguna, is located next to the marina. Surrounded by restaurants and shops, it's an ideal place for a stroll.
PLAZA DE LA LOTA
This square, surrounded by large flowering trees that are a spectacular sight in spring, is home to several of Ayamonte's best restaurants, as well as a few bars, making it a lively spot both day and night. Live music is often featured on weekend afternoons.
Complete your experience exploring the city center by visiting these three secondary squares:
ROSARY SQUARE
This charming little square is located next to the Casa Grande, a stately home from the mid-18th century that has now become a cultural center with an interesting permanent collection as well as hosting various temporary exhibitions.
BALUARTE SQUARE
In this square we can observe what remains of the old protective wall of the city, which dates from the 16th century.
SANTA ÁNGELA DE LA CRUZ SQUARE
Next to the cloistered convent of the same name, this beautiful square has a very lively atmosphere, as it has bars that often organize cultural activities such as art exhibitions, concerts or artistic performances.
As you stroll through the streets connecting these squares and plazas, you'll have explored the entire center of Ayamonte. During your walk, we recommend not missing Calle Real, the Mercado de Abastos (Central Market), or the corner of La Peña; you'll experience the lively atmosphere of daily life in Ayamonte. Let's begin at Plaza de La Laguna.
